Using and Printing in Microsoft Word
-
- We here at Invitation Outlet use Macintosh Computers with Adobe Illustrator.
But we realize most users will have Microsoft Word.
- We had a friend cross platform and test out making templates for Word,
so here are the intructions. We still recommend that you use a few practice
- sheets of regular paper, cut into the actual size of the invitation,
to feed through your printer to align the invitation stock and center your
design. Place an "X" on the test sheet before running
through the printer to help you determine which side faces down.
- 1. Measure the invitation you have chosen. Always measure the open
size of the invitation
- 2. Open Microsoft Word: Chose "File" then "Page
Setup". Under the "Paper" tab, select "Custom
Size" and enter the dimensions of your card.
- 3. Now Select the "Margin" tab. Here you will select
your paper orientation and define the print area.
- 4. Select either "Portrait" (Prints the document with
the short edge at the top of the page) or "Landscape"
(Prints the document with the long edge at the top of the page). Always
feed the smaller cards in lengthwise.
- 5. Set your "Top", "Bottom", "Right"
and "Left" margins. The margins indicate the distance
between the margins and the type.
- 6. After you have created your paper setup we recommend that you SAVE.
- 7. Enter your text.
- 8. Once you have entered your text we recommend that you SAVE
-
- 1. From "File" menu Select "Print"
- 2. Click "Properties". There you will select "PAPER".
Choose "Custom" and enter the paper dimensions you entered
in your page setup from Microsoft Word.
- 3. We suggest first using a Test Sheet to make certain the text
is lined up correctly.
-
4. When the text lines up the way you want, you are ready to print your invitations.
